Administrivia: DeepSec 2020, Virtual Content, Travel Warnings, Trainings

René Pfeiffer/ September 16, 2020/ Conference

Reading the news can be very frustrating these days. Not that it was ever fun. We are monitoring the current COVID-19 situation in Europe and abroad. Given the questionable start of the Corona Traffic Light system in Austria, we want to offer you some facts.

  • The training Black Belt Pentesting / Bug Hunting Millionaire: Mastering Web Attacks with Full-Stack Exploitation and Mobile Security Testing Guide Hands-On will be virtual. This has been our and the trainer’s decision from the start due to travel regulations.
  • Depending on the travel situation other trainings may switch to a virtual training as well. It depends on the content, and the trainers need to agree.
  • Some of the DeepSec 2020 presentations will be virtual. Again this is due to travel regulations. Most of the presentation will still be on-site at the conference venue.
  • If the Austrian government decides to opt for a total lock-down again or if the travel restrictions become too severe, then DeepSec and DeepINTEL 2020 will still go ahead as hybrid or fully virtual event. Access to the content streams will be tied to a valid ticket. We are exploring ways for you to participate and will include this in the conference system.

We know that planning ahead these days is quite difficult. Travel is the major obstacle these days. Since we want to keep you safe, we do not impose unnecessary risks on everyone attending DeepSec. As for the tickets, we will keep the Early Bird Tariffs open a little longer in order to counter the effects of the many unknowns when it comes to attending events. Travel aside, we have prepared the on-site conference itself as safe as possible. Our protection measures are independent of the current „threat level“ unless the Austrian COVID-19 traffic light system hits red. Once this happens, we will switch to a virtual event. So stay sane, stay safe, and stay healthy!
